Leaky Turns, Stories from Amsterdam's Waterlands brings together artistic research and collective practice around questions of water, climate, and community and marks the end of Loom's residency at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. The programme includes a bike route through the city, visiting several sites connected to water infrastructures, and an afternoon gathering at Buurtwerkplaats Noorderhof with presentations by Müge Yilmaz, Loom, responses, and conversations accompanied by snacks and drinks by Lila Bullen-Smith.
This event, coordinated by our community member Laura Dubourjal, is organised by the Lectorate Art & Spatial Praxis (LASP) in collaboration with Loom takes place on Tuesday 30 September 2025.
It builds on Loom’s ongoing research into the Rhine river, sweet water ecologies, and collective modes of working. It continues our shared exploration within the Climate Imaginaries network of how artistic practices can contribute to climate awareness and transformation.

Dust off your old vinyl records, take them under your arm and take a seat behind the wheels of steel. There is a fire and marshmallows and everyone is welcome.
If you want to try something for an audience, we can also make time for that. Spoken word, music or a performance. Feel welcome!

There is something to eat for a small price, you can bring drinks with you and put them in the fridge for general use, as is the case with small parties.

Buurtwerkplaatjes was once set up by Buurtwerkplaats, Peter Both and Reinier Bakker, they have organised it almost 15 times! After a few years we are back! Reinier and Dané wanted to bring it back to life! Come and join us!!
